Battle of Crysler's Farm - 1813

The British and Americans go to war over the right of free trade on the ocean, the impressment of American sailors and British support for raiding Native Americans in the Northwest. The British are busy fighting Napoleon in Europe and can only manage a defensive war in 1812. The Americans attempt a three-pronged invasion of Canada which fails miserably. By late fall of 1813, the Americans have launched their second invasion aimed at Montreal.  British General Morrison challenges an American army 3 to 4 times his size near Crysler's Farm on the St. Lawrence River.
